The Friends of the Clan Maclean Heritage Trust
Aims
The Friends exists to support and help finance the work of the Clan Maclean Heritage Trust. It was founded in July 2001, to coincide with the 350th anniversary of the Battle ofMembership benefits
The benefits of membership, as well as contributing to the ongoing work of the Trust, include annual statements of projects, invitations to special events, and an annual limited edition gift connected with the history of the clan. These have included a copy of the 1493 Charter; a ‘Spy’ cartoon of the Kaid; a unique copy of the Maclean armorial hatchment, and of the Maclean Kilties recruiting poster; a copy of Sandby's sketch of Duart Castle; and a miniature portrait of General Allan Maclean, Torloisk.
Annual subscription
Becoming a Friend
- To apply and pay the subscription online, please complete and send the online Membership Application form and then proceed to the Online payment page in order to pay. This is the easier and quicker way.
- Alternatively, a Membership Application form can be down-loaded by clicking here. It can then be completed offline or it can be printed and completed by hand. This form can also be obtained by writing to the Secretary of the Trust (see below). The completed form must be mailed to the Secretary. Payment is by cheque (in pounds sterling only, please) payable to the Clan Maclean Heritage Trust or by debit/credit card. A written instruction to debit your debit/credit card is on this form.
Standing order
Friends outside the UK will need to check that their bank will accept a standing order (regular payment) mandate in favour of the Trust, as not all banks will accept regular payment mandates to pay overseas beneficiaries.
Renewals
- Those who originally applied and paid online will receive an invitation to renew by e-mail from the Secretary in advance of the renewal date. This e-mail will contain a direct link to the Online payment page. In order to renew, simply insert your membership number (which will be included in the Secretary's e-mail) in the applicable box on that page and proceed to pay.
- Those who originally submitted a paper application that included an e-mail address will receive an invitation to renew by e-mail from the Secretary in advance of the renewal date. Attached to this e-mail will be a Membership Renewal form. This form is also available for downloading here. This form should be completed and returned by mail to the Secretary. Payment may be made by either of the methods described in the original subscription form (cheque or debit/credit card).
- Those for whom we do not have an e-mail address will receive an invitation to renew by mail from the Secretary in advance of the renewal date. A Membership Renewal form will accompany his letter. This should be completed and returned with payment, as per the preceding paragraph.
Those who do not originally pay online may switch to online payment for renewals at any time. Simply notify the Secretary that you intend to do so.
Gift membership
- For registering the recipient as a Friend and for paying online, please complete and send the online Gift membership form and then proceed to the Online payment page in order to pay; or
- Alternatively, download a Gift Membership form by clicking here, or obtain one by writing to the Secretary of the Trust, and proceed as described above for new subscriptions.
The procedure for renewing gift membership is the same as that for renewing one's own membership (see Renewals above). A Gift Membership Renewal form can be down-loaded here.
Invitations to renew gift membership will be sent first to the original donor. If the donor declines to pay for renewal, an invitation to renew will then be sent to the recipient.
