The Friends of the Clan Maclean Heritage Trust

Aims

The Friends exists to support and help finance the work of the Clan Maclean Heritage Trust. It was founded in July 2001, to coincide with the 350th anniversary of the Battle of

Annual subscription

The annual subscription, which is for the calendar year, is £20 for an individual and £30 for a family (married couple or partners and children under the age of 21).

Membership of the Friends is not limited to members of Clan Maclean.

In order to become a Friend, please complete a Membership Application. This may be completed on screen or down-loaded and completed by hand. The form incorporates a Gift Aid declaration and we should be grateful if all UK taxpayers could tick the relevant box. A Standing Order form also forms part of the Application form and again we should be grateful if Friends with UK bank accounts would agree to pay for renewals of their subscription by this means. Gift membership

Membership of the Friends also makes a delightful gift for Macleans and their children. Simply complete a Gift Membership form and make payment as described below.

• If you have a bank account in the UK and use online banking, you can transfer the required amount directly to the Trust's bank account (see details on the Membership Application form).

  Please do not transfer funds directly from bank accounts outside the UK, or via telegraphic transfer, because in this case a large part of your subscription is lost in bank charges.

• For those who do not have a bank account in the UK, as well as those who do have a UK bank account but do not use online banking, please use our online payment facility. This allows you to pay by credit card or from your PayPal account. You do not have to have a PayPal account in order to pay by credit card via PayPal.

• Applicants in the UK may pay by cheque payable to the Clan Maclean Heritage Trust. We do not accept international cheques.

Gift Aid declaration

The Trust benefits considerably if Friends who pay tax in the UK complete a Gift Aid declaration, which increases the value of the subscription to the Trust by 25%. This costs members nothing, and higher rate taxpayers may reclaim part of their subscription through their Self Assessment tax return. A Gift Aid declaration is included in the Membership Application form. A separate form for this purpose is also available here.

It would be most helpful if Friends with UK bank accounts would kindly agree to pay for renewals of their subscriptions by standing order, as this reduces the administrative burden on both the Trust and themselves. It also reduces the expenses of the Trust where we have to use post, thus ensuring that more of your donations can be used for Trust projects.

A standing order form is included with the Membership Application form. It can also be down-loaded from here.

Standing orders are not suitable for Friends who do not have a UK bank account.

For those who do not wish or are not able to set up standing orders, renewal subscriptions can be paid via any of the payment mechanisms described above. If paying by cheque or via online banking, please also send us a completed Membership Renewal form or Gift Membership Renewal form as applicable, so that we can allocate the payment correctly.
