- When the Civil War broke out between the states he enlisted as a private in Company E or B 26th Alabamba Inf Regiment afterwards changing to the Fiftenth Gladden's Brigade,Withers Division ; afterwards Hindman's Division,Polks Corps later ; S.L.LEES Corps,Army of the _____________?in the Confederacy.He was never wounded nor made a prisoner although he participated in numbersos battles such as Shiloh,Farmington,Murfieesboro,Perryville,Mumfordsville,Chattanouga,Mission Ridge,and te fighting in Georgia.The last battle was in Selma,Alabamba a few day before Gen N.B.Forrest surrendered.
